Our Talks
In my dreams, you talk to me.
Like the conversations we once had.
Spending hours on the phone, talking about everything.
There was never enough time.
Life gets in the way and it is time to go.
This was our last talk, yet we thought there would be more tomorrows.
Now our talks are in my dreams.
In my dreams, we never have to go.
About a Box
There is a box left under the tree.
Not just any box, or any tree.
This is a special gift left for a man.
Not just any man, this gift is for my dad.
I made it with my own two hands.
My fingerprints are from last year.
He did not visit this year, and seldom calls.
Yet, I still long for his love.
The tree is gone, although the box remains.
Unopened and in the order, as I hope it will be opened someday.
My fingerprints may be different as I grow each day.
Yet, I am still the child that misses my dad.
Memory Box
There are some people in life that touch your heart.
There is one person in life that will touch your soul.
That person is your soul mate.
They are the one person that is a part of you and you are a part of them.
When you are around them, you feel it.
You cannot imagine your life without them.
Then one day, it happens,
They are gone and life as you know it has changed forever.
Memories are the only thing you have.
A memory box filled with cards and everything you have ever given to them.
Nothing can prepare you for a nightmare.
The only thing to hold onto are all the dreams in a little memory box.
One Dance
Have you ever wanted to dance with that special someone, just once?
To have him guide you on the dance floor.
To have him place his hand on the mid of your back.
Have you ever wanted him to hold your hand and lead the way?
There is a difference between not dancing well and not being able to dance.
What if he was unable to lead the first step on the dance floor, or spin you around?
What if he required a mobility device to get around?
What if he was unable to do what most people took for granted?
Would you love him the same?
Standing in place, he takes your hand as you place your head on his chest.
You can feel his heart beating, although it is not steady.
You both close your eyes, in your hearts you are dancing.
My Best Friend
What is a best friend?
A best friend is the first person you want to talk to in the morning.
They make you laugh as you start your demanding day.
They provide encouragement and believe you can do anything.
They know when you need a hug and long to be held.
They are the person you can talk to about anything and they love you the same, maybe even more.
They are the person you talk to before you go to bed at night.
Their kind words help you sleep better at night.
As you lie awake in bed, you hope to dream of them.
When you lose your best friend, you lose the world.
Numb
I feel pain like a heavy weight on my heart. The loss makes it difficult to breathe.
Everything is not okay. Nobody realizes how I feel. Their laughs echo in my head. What is so funny?
Music is too loud! I need to plug my ears. The noise won’t stop. Colors hurt my eyes, for they are too bright.
Food smells funny. The smell is strong and taste too spicy. I cannot eat.
I want to scream, but no one will hear me. My voice is gone.
I want to run, but there is nowhere to go. My legs cannot move. I am numb with nowhere to go.
